Poetry

ONLY

By gentle grace onIy do I
Find myself
here
where time and fortune
Lose their hold and fade,
Fade,
into vague
Oblivion.

A sweet breeze
Softly ripples
the surface
Of
my deepest soul-waters.

The quiet within silence,
Place of rest.

Slowly
My weakened spaces
fill until I know
Anew
about strength
and trust
and love.

Momentarily my breath
Is carried,
My very being
Dissolved:
Only luminosity
exists
Yet I
remain
Clearly defined
Solidly present.

Knowing merges with breath and heartbeat,
Surpassing reasoned comprehension.

All is well.

Then only do the waters reflect
and contain
Darkness
and light:
Wholly complete,
Infinitely open.
